Become a member of the only dedicated organization for professional craft artists

Professional craft artist living in Sweden? Do you want to be featured in new artistic contexts and gain access to support and membership benefits designed specifically for practitioners? Apply for membership in The Swedish Crafts Centre (Konsthantverkscentrum) – Sweden’s only dedicated organization for professional craft artists and sloyders. Upon joining, you will gain over 850 colleagues across the country. The annual service fee is 440 SEK, excluding VAT.

To become a member, you must be a practicing professional and conduct your artistic business in Sweden. There are two ways to apply – via Direct Entry or via Admissions Jury. All application data is treated confidentially. If your application is declined, you are welcome to apply again. The next admissions jury occasion is in May 2026.

Apply via University Degree • No Peer Review

Craft artists with a degree from a Swedish university of arts specializing in crafts can apply for membership at any time during the year. If it has been a long time since your graduation, we may request a copy of your diploma/degree certificate.

  • Images: Upload a square cover image (representing your work or studio) that best represents your artistry, as well as 3–6 images of your work.

Apply via Admissions Jury

If you are a professional craft artist or sloyd practitioner without a Swedish university degree in crafts, you can apply for membership via our admissions jury twice a year. The next deadline is May 2026.

Your professional artistic practice is assessed based on educational and professional merits, as well as artistic and technical quality. Read the assesment criterie below:

Education •  This includes schools, apprenticeship programs, journeyman certificates, international education, and internships within the field.

Professional Merits • These are assessed based on exhibitions, grants, received commissions, years in the profession, and teaching experience.
Artistic and Technical Quality • Assessed based on the submitted visual material and, if applicable, your website.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The jury reviews the visual and written material and notifies you via email whether you have been accepted. All information is treated confidentially. If accepted, you will log in using the email address you applied with to create a password. You will then be able to edit your portfolio and gain access to course materials and other member news.

Please note: If you choose to resign, you must re-apply via the admissions jury if you wish to rejoin at a later date.
